Man shoots buck in family's backyard, drives through lawn to retrieve it

ROCHESTER HILLS — A family called the police after finding a large buck that had been shot in their backyard.

Tammy and Mark Trudeau tell WDIV-TV that before police or Department of Natural Resources officials could arrive, a man driving a Nissan SUV drove through their yard and scooped the deer up in their subdivision near Avon and Old Perch roads.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office confirmed the incident over the phone Thursday morning, Nov. 10, but said they have turned the incident over to the DNR. Captain Michael Johnson, of the sheriff's office Rochester Hills post, said that while there are several bordering communities that allow deer hunting, it's still "obviously not deer (rifle) season."

The sheriff's office has not identified the suspect, but WDIV-TV reports the man was driving a 2000 to 2004 blue Nissan Xterra with spoke wheels.
