Expanding the Circle of Compassion
Though often thought of as just for dogs and cats, the roots of humane societies actually began with horses and livestock. Only decades later did most of them get involved with sheltering dogs and cats. Yet some insist that places like the Humane Society of Huron Valley shouldn't be concerned about the welfare of all animals -- just hte indoor ones. Why is that, and how can we as a society continue to expand the circle of compassion?
