The city of Ann Arbor has responded to a new lawsuit over the city's deer cull, continuing to defend the ongoing shooting of deer in city parks.
The city's latest court filings offer a first glimpse into the progress of the cull and confirmation of the number of deer shot so far, as the city has been reluctant to share that information publicly up to this point.
Sixteen deer were killed as of the end of last week, according to weekly cull reports attached as exhibits in the new court filings.
"Several more" have been killed this week and will be reported in the next weekly report, according to a brief filed by the city's attorneys on Wednesday.
