

Second lawsuit over Ann Arbor cull

The new lawsuit — the second against the city over the deer cull — was filed in Washtenaw County Circuit Court and is before Judge Timothy Connors. Deer carcass found on golf course

Hearing on Monday - Join the protest
U.S. District Judge Arthur Tarnow has scheduled a hearing for 2 p.m. this Monday. He'll listen to arguments to help him decide whether to issue a temporary injunction to stop the deer cull.
The group that filed the lawsuit, the Ann Arbor Residents for Public Safety (not related to HSHV) encourages all concerned about the deer to come, bring signs, and protest outside just before the hearing.

26 Parks to Close for 3 months
The city of Ann Arbor announced today that 26 parks in Wards 1 and 2 will be closed from January 1, 2016 through March 31, 2016 from 4 p.m. - 7 a.m. every weekday for the deer cull. The parks are: 1. Arbor Hills Nature Area 2. Argo Nature Area 3. Bandemer Nature Area 4. Barton Nature Area 5. Bird Hills Nature Area 6. Black Pond Woods Nature Area 7. Bluffs Nature Area 8. Braun Nature Area 9. What does a feeding ban mean for Ann Arbor?
Ann Arbor officials are moving in the direction of instituting a citywide ban on feeding deer, and they say city officers are going to enforce it. Both the Village and Town of East Hampton, New York was set to conduct a deer cull conducted by sharpshooters, but stopped-- following vigorous opposition. Opponents initiated a petition drive and staged a rally attended by several hundred people in the heart of the Hamptons. Activists sued the village and town, prompting the Village mayor to say they were cancelling their plans to cull.
